Harriet Powers was a freed slave who lived in Winterville, GA (where I live now) and Athens, GA. During her lifetime she produced two quilts that made their way to museums. Her Bible Quilt is in the Smithsonian, and is one of six quilts made by African American women in the collection. For this project I am recreating her quilt entirely out of paper. I'll be posting here as the process continues. I had to first create a pattern, which you see here.
